A primary mission of Litigation for Animal Welfare is supporting legal cases through funding and/or legal referral, and providing legal resources and investigative services to lawyers and the media, in animal welfare cases. While we are assisting in numerous cases at various stages of development, we are seeking public assistance in the following case:
Case - No Dogs Left Behind Inc. and Jeffrey Beri vs Megan Langevin and John Does 1-10
Litigation for Animal Welfare (LAW), will be providing litigation support, legal referral, case fundraising, and media support on behalf of Megan Langevin and Niu Niu. in the above case.
BACKGROUND
No Dogs Left Behind (NDLB), founded by Jeffrey Beri, claims to rescue dogs from the East Asian dog meat trade, but the organization has been mired in controversy and criticism over its methods and transparency. While presenting itself as a bold activist group, NDLB has been accused of prioritizing dramatic stunts and media attention over sustainable, community-based solutions. Former staff, volunteers and critics have raised concerns about poor conditions at their shelters, lack of proper veterinary care, and questionable spending practices. The group's confrontational tactics with local authorities and disregard for cultural sensitivities have also drawn backlash from both international and local animal welfare advocates, many of whom argue that NDLB’s approach does more harm than good in the fight to end the dog meat trade.
Former staff and volunteers have claimed that Beri and NDLB use fear of expensive legal action to silence potential whistleblowers with broad, and arguably unenforceable, non-disclosure agreements and cease and desist notices.
In March 2025, NDLB and Beri filed a $100K law suit against former NDLB staffer Megan Langevin, claiming that she violated an NDA by disparaging No Dogs Left Behind and Beri. NDLB claims that Langevin posting videos taken inside NDLB shelters on the social media of an animal activist organization. NDLB further seeks to remove Niu Niu, a 10-year-old, German Shepard suffering from degenerative myelopathy, from Langevin’s home claiming that she ”kidnapped” the rescued dog after NDLB’s Canton, NY shelter caught fire, killing 44 other rescue dogs.
WHY LAW IS PROVING SUPPORT?
Litigation for Animal Welfare was already investigating No Dogs Left Behind and Jeffrey Beri after patterns of concern were raised by multiple, independent sources across several countries. More information about that ongoing investigation can be found at the NDLB Investigation page.
Litigation for Animal Welfare (LAW) is supporting Megan Langevin in the case No Dogs Left Behind v. Megan Langevin due to concerns about the NDLB organization's practices and its treatment of critics. LAW contends that NDLB, under founder Jeffrey Beri, has exhibited a pattern of aggressive legal actions against former staff, volunteers, and whistleblowers, aiming to silence dissent and obscure problematic, unethical, and potentially illegality. As a former employee, LAW believes that Langevin is being targeted for raising legitimate concerns about NDLB's operations, including allegations of inadequate animal care and questionable financial practices. LAW believes that supporting Langevin is essential to protect individuals who speak out against potential misconduct in animal rescue organizations and to promote transparency and accountability within the sector.
LAW is also deeply troubled by NDLB’s punitive demand that Niu Niu—an elderly, medically fragile dog—be removed from her first and only true forever home with Megan Langevin and her family. Niu Niu was originally rescued by the Chinese animal shelter Together for Animals, not from a meat market as claimed in fundraising appeals by NDLB founder Jeffrey Beri. According to insiders, Beri misrepresented the nature of these rescues, allegedly purchasing dogs from legitimate animal charities abroad and merely arranging their transport to the United States, rather than rescuing them directly from slaughterhouses as donors were led to believe..
SCOPE OF THE SUPPORT
Litigation for Animal Welfare (LAW) is providing comprehensive support to Megan Langevin as she defends herself against the lawsuit filed by No Dogs Left Behind. Our organization is offering strategic litigation guidance, connecting her with experienced legal professionals through our referral network, and actively assisting in the coordination and funding of her legal defense. In addition, LAW is leveraging its media platforms to amplify Langevin’s voice, raise public awareness about the broader issues at stake, and counter efforts to silence whistleblowers within the animal rescue community. Through targeted fundraising efforts, legal support, and public advocacy, LAW is committed to ensuring that Langevin is fully equipped to stand up for truth and for Niu Niu..
WHAT COMES NEXT?
The next legal steps in Megan Langevin’s defense begin with securing experienced legal representation through LAW’s referral network. Once an attorney is retained, the immediate focus will shift to preparing for the discovery phase of the lawsuit, including responding to document requests and coordinating depositions. This stage is critical, as it allows Megan’s legal team to gather evidence, question key figures from No Dogs Left Behind including Jeffrey Beri, under oath, and build a strong defense rooted in truth and transparency. LAW will continue to provide litigation support throughout this process, ensuring Langevin is fully equipped to challenge the allegations and bring vital facts about the inner workings of NDLB to light.
Costs associated with defending Langevin could exceed $80K. Donations towards Langevin defense, Niu Niu’s protection, and exposing No Dog’s Left Behind would be appreciated.
