This is an eight-week, live, on-line course on starting and managing an animal rescue or sanctuary. This course provides participants with practical knowledge, hands-on guidance, and upon successful completion, a LAW certification in Animal Rescue or Animal Sanctuary Management. Unit 1: Foundations of Animal Rescues & Sanctuaries

• Understanding the difference between rescues and sanctuaries

• Defining your mission, vision, and target animals

• Legal structures: nonprofit vs. for-profit models

• Overview of local, state, and federal regulations

After this unit, you will be able to define the type of rescue or sanctuary you wish to launch, create a mission, select a legal structure, and identify the regulations that will apply to your rescue or sanctuary.
