This is an eight-week, live, on-line course on starting and managing an animal rescue or sanctuary. This course provides participants with practical knowledge, hands-on guidance, and upon successful completion, a LAW certification in Animal Rescue or Animal Sanctuary Management. Unit 2: Legal, Permits & Compliance

• Navigating 501(c)(3) nonprofit status (if applicable)

• Zoning laws and animal welfare regulations

• Liability, insurance, and risk management

• Contracts, waivers, and adoption agreements

After this unit, you will be able to apply for non-profit status if that fits your mission, understand and meet laws and regulations, select and apply for insurance, create a “best practices” plan, and create a master or contacts and agreements used to manage your rescue or sanctuary.
